Pizza Express Round 2!

This morning the other half of the class went to Pizza Express In Abbey Road. Again we were extremely lucky with the weather and walked there and back in glorious sunshine. The children were so well behaved and lots of passers by smiled at us and one even commented they were a lovely group of children!

We were given squash again and a lovely activity book to fill out which the children will be bringing home with them this evening along with the delicious pizzas!

I think there maybe some budding chefs amongst the class because the standard of the pizzas was excellent! What a talented class we are!

Here are some snaps of our trip out!

Pizza Express Round 1!

Yesterday half of the class visited Pizza Express in Abbey Road as part of our learning about Food in D.T.

I was so impressed by the way everyone walked to and from the restaurant and how nobody complained they were tired, especially as it was quite a long walk!

The manager Joanna was so welcoming and they gave the teachers and children a drink when we first arrived. They also had an activity to make a pretend pizza on paper so the children were sure about which toppings they definitely wanted!

Then we had to wash our hands and get ready to make our pizza. We made out thin crust by pushing the dough with our hands and then a small bit of tomato sauce was put on the pizza base. We had to shake it all over the pizza which was fun! Ben the chef showed us how to do it.

Then we added our toppings and they were put in the oven. It only took four minutes - a super hot oven!!

The finished pizzas were delicious! Did your child share theirs with you when they got home?
I can't wait to go back next Tuesday!

Anansi the spider!

This month is Black History Month and in Year 1 we have beenlooking at some of the Anansi stories. We will be finding out more about slaves and the traditional stories they used to tell and doing some exciting activities. We have already started our learning by making a collage of Anansi in art using coloured paper. Here are some of our brilliant pieces. The rest will be shown in a special assembly!

They are:
Jahed, Bilal, Hajer, Amir, Jone Sheng, Sebahat, Yahia, Mehenaz, Farah Noer, Tanya, Rahatour, Eddie, Hanifah, Zareen, Mahirah and Yasmin!
Please make sure you learn your spellings at home with the children, it really does make such a difference!

A big well done to Astrit who won the golden award last Friday for always looking and listening. He always tries his best and works very hard in school. Well done Astrit!

Our trip to Pizza Express is nearly here! The first half of the children will be going this Thursday morning and the rest of the class will be going next Tuesday morning! I'm really excited about making pizza, look back for photos soon!

Finally in R.E we are looking at precious things and need the children to bring in something precious they have at home. It does not have to be something religious, just something they think is really special, like a favourite teddy bear. Please only bring them in on Monday as I would hate for anything to happen to them. Thanks you for all your help!
