Little Red Riding Hood - A play by the Rabbits

This week we have been busy learning about some of the fairytales. We have read Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood. We have all been trying hard to act out the stories as well as doing fantastic writing and reading, the weekend will be a good chance to rest our busy brains!!

Here is the video of the Rabbits performing their play. I hope you enjoy it!

Dress Up Friday!

At last our book week is sadly nearly at an end. The children have all been excited to wear their costumes and have enjoyed guessing who everybody is!!!

(By the way I was Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl!)

We finished off our week with a science experiment to find which material would be best to keep the big bad wolf away from us and a Gateway premiere of our Three Little Pigs play. We especially liked the popcorn while we were watching! We also did lots and lots of reading as you can see!!!!

We made a special book describing our friends in the class and why we liked them! It is in our classroom if you would like to come and see it.

We also had a special assembly where we looked at Reception and Year 2's costumes. The year 2 children knew Mrs Pieris was the Snow Queen from the Narnia stories; I think the other children are too young to be familiar with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, although they all know that character now!!!!

Book Week activities

Here are some photos of our trip to both Church Street Library where the librarian read use some lovely stories and our school library where we were lucky enough to have some storytellers come in. They read us a story and then we did some acting and role play for some of the characters.

I also hope you have seen your child's worry doll we made after reading Silly Billy! They were all very good! Tomorrow we will be reading about pirates and making a treasure map, I wonder if we will find any treasure!

Please do ask your child what we have been doing this week, we have done so many wonderful things; the lessons I have been talking about on here really are only a snapshot of what we have been doing!

The Three Little Pigs

The children have been working so hard this week with all our book week activities! Here are some photos and videos of our acting work of the Three Little pigs. We have incorporated drama and art and writing into our day... I know I'm certainly very tired!!!
The videos do have some background noise from the audience so don't have it up too loud! The children practised these with hardly any help from the teachers. I was so impressed with how well they worked together! Enjoy!

The class split into groups of 4, the three little pigs and the big bad wold. We really enjoyed huffing and puffing!

Can you guess which character I am? I was huffing and puffing and trying to blow down a house of bricks. I got very cross when I couldn't especially after I blew down the house of straw and sticks so easily!!!

We all sat very nicely watching each other perform!!! Come and see our dispaly outside the classroom, it has lots of our excellent work on the board. I will also scan in our writing for our next blog!

I can't wait to see the children tomorrow with all their outifts... we will take lots of photos so come back soon!!!

Hello and welcome to half term 3!!

Hello and welcome back!
I'm sorry it has been a while since Peach class's last blog but we have all been very busy getting ready for Book Week. I hope you have had a chance to hear about some of the exciting things we are doing this week. Yesterday we met the author Hiawyn Oram which was very exciting. She wrote the Mona the vampire stories and lots of children in the class enjoy watching the program.

We are also visiting Church Street library tomorrow and will be lucky enough to have a storyteller in our class library slot tomorrow afternoon. We have been reading lots of books every day even in subjects like Maths!

Come back soon for our worry dolls which we made this morning after reading Silly Billy by Anthony Browne. We all tried really hard to make a doll that could do our worrying for us. Ask your child what they made their doll for!

Our super spellers from last week were:
Jahed, Isa, Maryum, Sawsan, Rafa, Bilal, Astrit, Hassan, Sajidah, Hajer, Amir, Jone Sheng, Yahia, Mehenaz, Farah-Noer, Rahatour, Eddie, Hanifah, Zareen, Mahirah, Yasmin and Sadia.

The children that were nearly there were:
